One could argue that summertime in South Florida is all year round. I think it’s no secret that I love to fish and I love to cook. When I’m cooking, I enjoy having a good drink in my hand to help me beat the South Florida heat.

In this article I am going to share with you how I make my signature drinks. Please keep in mind that I have a hard rule that I never break: I never operate a vessel while under the influence. Getting a BWI or getting someone hurt because you didn’t have the self-discipline to forego drinking while operating your vessel is inexcusable and will not be tolerated. Do not boat and drive or drive drunk. With that being said, lets jump right into how to make those ice-cold concoctions that help us hang on.

In the video here, you’ll find walk-through instructions for each drink. You’ll also find step-by-step instructions below.

Common Hardware and Ingredients

I keep most of these on hand to be ready for any hot summer barbecue:

  • 24oz Tervis Cup (preferably a Captain Matt Webber cup)
  • Cocktail shaker with a lid
  • Muddler
  • Celery Salt
  • Ice
  • Don Q Limon
  • Dark Spiced Rum (whatever flavor or brand you choose)
  • Vodka (whatever brand you chose)
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Clamato Juice
  • Cran-Raspberry juice
  • Crystal Hot Sauce
  • Natty Light
  • Tomato Juice
  • Shiner Bock

Spiced Rum and Coke

  • Fill your Tervis cup up to the top with ice cubes
  • Pour your rum into the cup up to the first division line
  • Fill the cup up with soda
  • Add a little lime wedge in it if you want to make it a Cuba Libre.
  • Bottoms up!

Hippy Time Mojito

  • Fill your Tervis cup up to the top with ice
  • Take your Don Q Limon and pour into the cup up to the first division line
  • Fill the cup up to the top with Cran-Raspberry juice leaving a little room to add the next step
  • Add a splash of muddled mint to top it off and give it that minty flavor.
  • Pour the cocktail into your cocktail shaker and shake three times
  • Pour the cocktail back into your Tervis cup
  • If you like a more visually appealing beverage, you can substitute the muddled mint and actually muddle some mint leaves and some raspberries to add some pizzazz to your drinks.
  • Enjoy

Bloody Mary

  • Take your Tervis Cup and fill it up to the top with Ice
  • Pour in the Vodka to the first division line in your cup
  • Tap in 7 dashes of celery salt
  • (Optional) add a dash of Tobacco if you like it spicy hot)
  • Add five sprits of the Worcestershire Sauce
  • Fill to the rest of the cup up with Clamato Juce
  • Pour the contents of the cup into your cocktail shaker and shake a couple times
  • Pour the contents of the cocktail shaker back into the Tervis cup
  • Enjoy.

Tomato Beer

  • Open a can of Natty and pour it into your Tervis Cup
  • Fill the cup up to the almost the top with tomato juice
  • Enjoy.

Shiner Bock

  • Pop off the top like I showed you in the video above
  • Enjoy.
